Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

At Cariho we look after the information of those who do the caring. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the control you have. Cariho is a platform to coordinate the care of one person (the "patient") among family and caregivers (the "care circle").

1. Who we are

The controller of your data is Edgard Alexander Vega Salguedo, an individual based in Manizales, Colombia, who operates Cariho. For any privacy matter, write to privacidad@cariho.com.

2. What we collect

  • Account: your name and email.
  • Patient and care information you or your circle record: name, date of birth, condition, blood type, allergies, emergency contact, medications and doses, dose logs, symptoms, shift notes and daily wellbeing.
  • Notifications: a device identifier so we can send reminders and alerts.
  • App usage: usage and diagnostic data to understand and improve Cariho.

Some of this is health information. We handle it with special care and only to provide the service.

3. How we use it

  • Coordinate care within your circle: medication schedule, dose logs, shifts and symptoms.
  • Send reminders, shift-handoff alerts and the weekly summary.
  • Prepare the weekly summary and the report for the doctor.
  • Power the emergency access card.
  • Keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.

4. The weekly summary

To prepare the weekly summary we use an external provider. Before sending anything, we remove your loved one’s name: it never travels alongside the information. The summary is informational and is not medical advice.

5. Who it is shared with

  • Your care circle: the people you invite see information according to what is theirs to see. An invited doctor can only read.
  • Emergency access: with the card you generate, whoever holds it can see, without signing in, a limited set of data (name, date of birth, blood type, allergies, active medications and one contact). Never symptoms, notes or history. Each lookup is logged and you can regenerate the card anytime.
  • Providers that help us operate (hosting, notifications, summary preparation, analytics), who only process data on our instruction.
  • Authorities when the law requires it.

We do not sell your information.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep information while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account). Circles where you are the only responsible person are deleted with all their data; in shared circles, your contribution is anonymized and care continues for the others. Deletion is permanent.

7. Security

We protect information in transit, restrict who can see what, and limit access to the data. No system is infallible, but we work to keep it safe.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct and delete your information in the app, or by writing to privacidad@cariho.com. Depending on your country, you may have additional rights.

9. Minors

Accounts are for people 18 and older. The person being cared for may be a minor, but their information must only be recorded by an authorized adult.

10. Where it is processed

We operate from Colombia and also serve the United States. Your information may be processed on servers outside your country, with appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy. If changes are significant, we will let you know in the app or by email.

12. Contact

Write to privacidad@cariho.com.
